2015 Training Curriculum

1. Beginner's class

This course will introduce school leavers(SSCE) and interested students to the world of fashion design. Students will be taught all about the fashion design process from drawing to figure work, design and colour theory.

The course includes:

Color and textile trends

Basic drawing skills

Fashion illustration techniques

Introduction to Pattern Drafting:Bodice and Skirt Block.

INTRODUCTION TO FASHION ILLUSTRATION The 9–line rule The angular figure The fully fleshed out figure Back and front views Facial expressions and hair detailing

PROJECT

Description

In this module you will learn basic sewing skills and Pattern drafting. Through practical demonstrations you'll learn how pattern pieces are drafted to create a fitted garment, and how to lay out patterns ready to cut out and make up a garment with your new found sewing skills.

The course includes:

Designing a simple skirt, Top/gown

Pattern cutting and making a sample in Fabric

Sewing techniques

Various seam constructions pressing and finishing

2. Intermediate class

Those who already know how to sew and sketch but want to learn pattern drafting and professional finishing( otherwise will still need to go through the beginners class)

PROJECT : COLLECTION SEWING

Description

Learn basic  and intermediate  pattern drafting and sewing skills, pattern cutting techniques for female clothing only. Through practical demonstrations and hands on experience, you'll learn how pattern pieces are shaped to create a fitted garment, and how to lay out patterns ready to cut out and make up a garment.By the end of the module, students will have gained all the required base knowledge to deal with any kind of garments. Students will be well prepared for a career in the technical areas of fashion.

The course includes:

◾Dart manipulation, pivoting and slashing

◾drafting customized and size blocks

◾Designing skirts, necklines, sleeves, collars, garments, trousers and jacket.

◾Pattern cutting and making a samples in fabric

◾Sewing techniques

◾Various seam constructions and finishing

3. Advanced class

Those who already know how to sew and draft patterns  but want to know more on professional finishing and advance sewing techniques.( Those who can't sketch will still need to go through the beginners class)

Note: candidates for the advanced class will be tested before admission
